About Me

How I Got Started Doing Therapy

While I was in school, I knew I wanted to help people in some capacity. I tried multiple majors and actually pursued being a physician’s assistant (PA) for a while. It wasn’t until I looked at my skills and considered my interests that I began to study more about people, how they make decisions, and why they do what they do. Since that time, I’ve accrued a number of degrees and pursued a number of trainings to enable me to provide the best care to my clients.

Background Experience

What do I do when I’m not doing therapy?

-I’ll be training for my next half marathon.
-I’ll be playing with my kids or two cavapoo pups.
-I’ll be reading a Tom Clancy book.
-I’ll be launching model rockets with my kids.
-I’ll be playing pickleball with friends.
-I’ll be playing a three-minute blitz game of chess.
-I’ll be nerding out on Star Wars.

Now let’s talk about you.

Hope. Courage. Action.

You may have been holding onto your concern or challenge for awhile. Or just kicking it down the road. Thinking that it would be better to avoid or have it go away on its own. Yet, your challenge has persisted. You’ve decided that you are ready to address it and then be done with it. It takes courage to reach out and ask for help. And that courage and asking for help becomes your first step in your path to transformation.

If you choose to walk with me on your therapy path, I would be honored to be your companion and your guide. My aim within the very first session of working together is to get you feeling better and optimistic about what’s to come.

When you work with me, you can expect to feel heard as well as have tailored strategies to your situation and concerns. When you work with me, we go as fast or as slow as you are willing and comfortable to go. We take as much time as we need to with your concerns. We may take a break for a time from one set of concerns and return at a later time. We address the symptoms as well as the root of the problem.

By helping you to let go of those inner battles, you can gain a completely new perspective on life, free from the constant burden of anxiety, of depression, of the stress, or of the past trauma.

We don’t just stop there though, I then show you how to actively choose beliefs that support you in your life instead of hold you back.

The better you feel, the more action you take, the more confidence you feel in an upwards spiral.

And it all starts with taking that first step.

What does getting started with therapy actually look like?

First, we’ll have a 15-minute consultation call to determine that we are the right fit to work together. I’ll ask you about why you’ve chosen to reach out at this time, what your challenges are and what your goals are for therapy.

From there we’ll have our first session, in which we’ll dive in and understand what’s making you feel stuck. We’ll look at not only at what’s happening right now, but also look at possible contributing past events that could be affecting you.

You may have some idea of why these feelings are occurring. Together we’ll look at your life and collaborate to see exactly what brought you to this moment today.

This observational process in and of itself can be exciting as you can start to see the patterns and look at your past in a totally new way. You start to see why you have certain thoughts and behaviors as you continue to come to therapy.

Once we’ve identified these areas that aren’t helping you, then we get to work letting go of them, working through a guided method that lets them pass through.

Does it take work? Absolutely.

Is it worth it? Yes, it can be one of the best investments you ever make in and for yourself.

What do I use to help you make the transformation happen?

I work using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as well as Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT) to help make the transformation a reality. I use these therapies as they have been shown to be scientifically effective at quickly helping people change how they experience life.

And that’s my priority, to help you get on track sooner rather than later.

Is now the right time for therapy?

It’s simple…are you ready to start experiencing life differently?

This isn’t a small change, this is about radically changing the way you go through life.

So if you think that time is now, then I’m ready to help you make it happen.

Take your first step.

I know it can feel like you’re in a tough spot right now, and I’ve been there as well. But if you’ve read over this, if you’ve resonated with what’s here, then I’d highly recommend you reach out for therapy and work with me.

Even if not me then with another therapist.

Getting your mind back to the right state can be the most important thing you do in your life, as it completely changes your perspective on the world.

And I’d be happy to help guide you through it.

You can book a time to chat with me below and I can’t wait to start working with you.
